Product Basics & What It Is
-
DreamCase is a premium, handcrafted portable sleeping system that transforms the rear of your SUV, crossover, or Tesla into a comfortable double bed in minutes with no tent or campsite required.
- DreamCase Air - Our most advanced hybrid model. It features a high-density memory foam mattress with an integrated electric pump. The pump compresses the mattress for ultra-compact storage in the elegant suitcase case. Ideal for frequent travelers who want maximum packability.
- DreamCase Memory - A pure dual-layer memory foam system with a suspension platform case. Slightly simpler, extremely comfortable, and built for those who prefer traditional foam feel without the pump.
Both versions turn your car into a private luxury bedroom with a perfectly flat sleeping surface.
-
Unlike cheap inflatable air mattresses (which can deflate, create pressure points, and feel unstable) or thin camping pads, DreamCase is a true premium sleep system:
- High-density memory foam (not just air) for superior pressure relief and spinal alignment.
- Built-in suspension and leveling system that creates a flat, stable platform on uneven trunk floors.
- Everything packs into one durable, protective vegan leather suitcase (mattress + bedding + accessories).
- Designed specifically for car interiors with proper length, width, and headroom.
It feels like a real bed, not camping gear.
-
- Complete Kit - Full luxury experience: DreamCase system + quilted cotton topper, premium cotton blanket, two dual-shaped memory foam pillows.
- Essential Kit - The core DreamCase system (mattress + suspension/leveling case) without the bedding package.
-
- Suspension & Leveling System - Integrated suspension bars and platform case create a perfectly flat, stable sleeping surface.
- Materials - High-density memory foam, breathable quilted natural cotton topper, premium vegan leather suitcase with carbon fiber accents and microfibre lining.
- Setup Time - 2–3 minutes from suitcase to ready-to-sleep bed.
- Dimensions (Air example) - Mattress: 192 × 132 cm (head) tapering to 100 cm. Case: 95 × 25 × 48 cm.
- Weight - 14–16.8 kg depending on model and bedding (portable but substantial quality).
-
Yes. DreamCase creates a genuinely flat, stable double bed that two adults can sleep on comfortably all night. The integrated suspension platform completely eliminates the typical trunk slope and gaps you get with regular mattresses. This results in consistent support from head to toe - no sinking hips or awkward angles. In the Air version the mattress spans the full width of most vehicles at 132 cm from door to door - giving both sleepers plenty of personal space without feeling cramped.
-
DreamCase maximises headroom better than any other car sleeping system because it creates a truly flat bed with consistent height across the entire sleeping area - including the head zone. Most competing solutions slope downward at the head, stealing valuable space. With DreamCase, the head area stays at full height, giving you significantly more room to sit up, change clothes, or simply feel less confined. For taller sleepers (up to 195–205 cm / 6'5"+): Excellent comfort is possible in most SUVs and Teslas by moving the front seats slightly forward. The mattress length adapts well to the vehicle, and the flat, level surface prevents feet from hitting the trunk wall.
Tips for Car Camping
-
- Park on reasonably level ground (the suspension platform handles most slopes, but a little leveling goes a long way).
- Leave a small crack in the window for fresh air — unless you’re in an EV with Camp Mode.
- Keep your phone charged before bedtime — the built-in flashlight is incredibly useful at night.
- Always have a bottle of water within reach inside the car.
These small habits make a surprisingly big difference after a long day on the road.
-
The most popular apps are Park4Night, iOverlander, and Campercontact. Many DreamCase owners also search for “rest areas”, “wild camping spots”, or hotel parking lots. Use your map and look for parking spots next to lakes, rivers or interesting landmarks to find special locations. In Europe there are dedicated rest stops on all major highways, some with shower and amenities, perfect when traveling long distances. Use you phone to research your local area is key to a successful car camping experience.
-
This is where it gets really good.
Download content in advance - audiobooks, history documentaries, music, or movies. You never know when you’ll be in a low-signal area. Download Magic Mode content.
Go Magic Mode: Set up an iPad, Laptop (or phone) with relaxing visuals like a crackling fireplace, aquarium, or starry sky, combined with ambient music. Suddenly you’re not just sleeping in a car, you’re in your own private little world. You can be at a busy German Autobahn rest stop at 1:00 AM with trucks rumbling by, but inside your DreamCase nest, it feels completely magical and rewarding after a long drive. That contrast is one of the most beautiful parts of car camping.
Our DreamCase WindowBlinds come with a built-in iPad holder on the rear window, perfectly positioned for in-bed movies or ambience visuals.
-
- Cold nights: The memory foam holds body heat well. Layer with an extra blanket or for winter camping bring sleeping bag, or even better, a full down duvet.
- Hot nights: Create cross-ventilation with windows open on opposite sides + use a small fan. Parking in shade during the day helps a lot. EV's have a clear advantage with Climate Control functions, and Camp Mode in Tesla cars. Placing a rug or blanket over the roof of the car will greatly decrease the heat of the car in hot summer days.
- DreamCase WindowBlinds is designed to keep your camping experience comfortable in both hot and cold weather.
-
It completely depends on your trip style - a weekend road trip is very different from wild camping or long-distance travel.
The essentials are minimal: Your DreamCase, phone, wallet, clothes, and a good mood are genuinely enough for many great nights.
Useful additions that many owners appreciate:
- Window covers – One of the biggest upgrades for privacy and better sleep.
- Power bank – Essential for keeping your phone charged, especially on longer trips.
- Cooking gear – A small portable stove, pot, and basic utensils open up a lot of flexibility.
- Camping chair – Great for relaxing outside with the tailgate open.
- Extra blanket or sleeping bag – Very useful in colder weather.
Everything beyond that is personal preference. The beauty of DreamCase is that it keeps car camping simple and flexible. You don’t need a lot of extra gear to have a great experience.
-
The best organisation depends on your trip style and car model, but the goal is always the same: minimum effort when you want to sleep. Here are real-world setups that work very well:
- Tesla Model Y (and similar SUVs):
The frunk is perfect for dry kitchen gear, snacks, or cooking equipment in a plastic box.
The sub-trunk is excellent for keeping clothes organized and easily accessible.
The packed DreamCase takes up only about 20% of the main trunks volume, leaving plenty of room for luggage and gear. - Leave the bed set up (most popular method):
Many experienced users leave the DreamCase partially or fully set up during the trip. They simply move their bags onto the bed (behind the front seats) and cover them with a blanket for protection. When it’s time to sleep, just move the bags onto the front seats — transformation takes under a minute.
The less you have to unload, the more spontaneous and enjoyable car camping becomes.
- Tesla Model Y (and similar SUVs):
-
Privacy is easier than most people expect. The most effective solution is good window covers. Our DreamCase WindowBlinds (or any quality blackout covers) make a massive difference as they block light completely and prevent people from seeing inside. Beyond that, location is key. Use apps like Park4Night to find discreet, low-traffic spots. Many experienced car campers look for quiet corners, industrial areas at night, or peaceful spots away from main roads. With good window covers and a smart parking choice, you can feel surprisingly private even at busy rest stops.
-
Condensation is very manageable and usually not a big issue with DreamCase.
- Tesla and other EVs: If you use Camp Mode (or similar climate control), you will rarely see any condensation at all. The system is excellent at handling moisture.
- Regular gasoline/diesel cars: Simply leave a small crack open on windows on opposite sides of the car. This creates natural cross-ventilation and prevents most condensation.
Modern cars are not completely airtight as they naturally let in a fair amount of fresh air even with windows closed. The breathable cotton topper and materials in DreamCase also help compared to fully sealed plastic air mattresses.
Pro tip: If you do get a little fog on the windows in very humid conditions, a quick wipe in the morning is usually all it takes. Good airflow is the real key.
-
There are two main types of car camping, and the food strategy is very different for each.
1. Wild / off-grid camping
You’re might be far from shops, so preparation is key. A light dry kitchen box with essentials (plates, gas burner, pan, small pot, cutlery, cutting board, glasses) is usually more than enough to cook excellent meals in nature. Bring extra bottles of water for cleaning, and a dedicated container or bowl for washing dishes. Plan and predict your food consumption.
2. Classic road trip car camping
The map is your menu. You have easy access to supermarkets, 24h gas stations, and restaurants. Even then, keeping a small dry kitchen box is still very convenient for quick meals.
Pro tip especially for EV owners (like Tesla): The floor space in front of the rear seats has constant HVAC airflow. With WindowBlinds installed and a blanket on the roof, you can easily keep the floor area at 8–10°C even on hot summer days. It’s a brilliant natural fridge for keeping meat, dairy, and drinks fresh until dinner.
-
After 700 of nights on the road, these are the rules that actually matter:
- Pack light. You’ll be shocked how little you need. One or two bags of clothes, your electronics, wallet, and DreamCase is genuinely enough for a fantastic week-long trip. Less stuff = more freedom.
- Prioritize sleep over mileage. The best nights happen when you stop early instead of pushing until exhaustion.
- Keep it simple. The magic of DreamCase is spontaneity. Don’t overcomplicate it with too much gear.
- Respect the vibe. Leave no trace, be considerate to others, and remember you’re a guest in every parking spot.
The Hotel Bathroom Hack
In the morning, stop at a nice 4 or 5-star hotel, order a coffee at their lobby bar or café, and use their luxurious bathroom to freshen up, brush your teeth, change clothes, and start the day feeling like a million bucks. This works especially well across Europe. You don’t need to be a guest but just be respectful and well-dressed.
Combining car camping with hotel stays
Many experienced DreamCase users don’t do pure wild camping the whole trip. Instead, they mix both worlds: sleeping in stunning nature with DreamCase one night (mountains, lakes, forests) and checking into a nice hotel the next when they want a proper shower ready to explore a city. The contrast is pure magic - waking up with a breathtaking view from your DreamCase in the Alps, then two days later enjoying a luxurious hotel in an Italian city. This flexibility turns a simple road trip into something luxurious, deeply adventurous, and perfectly balanced. You get the best of both worlds: raw freedom and civilised comfort.
Freshening up on the road
We generally feel best with a shower every day or every other day. When you’re not near a hotel, lakes and the ocean are fantastic natural options. In Europe, many German gas stations offer clean showers for around 5€, and camping grounds are always a good backup. Use your phone to find local solutions, bathhouse, pools, gyms.
Compatibility & Fit
-
DreamCase is designed to fit a wide range of SUVs, crossovers, and electric vehicles - including over 200 car models. It works exceptionally well in Tesla Model Y, Model 3, Model X, and Model S, as well as popular SUVs from Toyota, Volvo, Skoda, Hyundai, Kia, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, and many more.
If your exact car model is not yet listed, you can still use our Fit Quiz in the footer page. It will help you determine compatibility for your specific vehicle, and you can go ahead and order with confidence.
-
The easiest way is to go to our Vehicles page, use the "search your car" tool in header, or Fit Quiz in the footer.
Just enter your make, model, and year - it will instantly show you compatibility, any important notes, and real installation photos.
-
Yes - exceptionally well. DreamCase was originally developed with Teslas in mind. It makes full use of the trunk floor shape for all models, creating an almost perfectly level and spacious bed. Many Tesla owners call it “the best upgrade after buying the car.”
-
It fits most modern SUVs and crossovers with a rear cargo area of at least ~190 cm length when rear seats are folded. The suspension platform adjusts to different trunk shapes and floor heights. Detailed fitment data is available on our Vehicles page.
-
In most cases yes, but it depends on the modification (subwoofers, drawer systems, raised floors, etc.). Contact us with details of your setup and we’ll give you honest advice.
-
Yes. The mattress length (up to ~194–205 cm depending on the car) combined with the flat surface gives excellent comfort for people up to 6'5" (195+ cm). Moving the front seats slightly forward creates 5-10 cm extra length using pillows as extension.
-
Absolutely. When packed in its suitcase, DreamCase takes up very little space and can stay in the car full-time. You can quickly remove it or keep it stored while still using the trunk normally. It behaves like a normal suitcase.
-
No, the DreamCase suitcase does not fit in the sub-trunk of Tesla cars, there is a specific reason why.
When you’re on the road and ready to sleep, you don’t want to unload all your luggage from the main trunk just to access the bed. DreamCase is designed to live in the main trunk - easily accessible so you can set up your bed in 2–3 minutes without hassle. The sub-trunk should specifically be used for other more suitable storage during road trips.
Comfort, Sleep Quality & Usage
-
DreamCase is built as a real sleep system, not typical camping gear. It combines high-density memory foam with a perfectly flat suspension platform to give you consistent, supportive comfort from head to toe. On top sits our quilted sateen cotton topper - a breathable, natural material that feels pleasant against the skin, helps regulate temperature, and significantly improves the overall sleeping experience. Together these elements create a stable, pressure-relieving bed that many of our customers use regularly for full nights of sleep in their car. It’s firm enough for good posture yet comfortable enough for deep rest - especially compared to traditional air mattresses or thin camping pads.
-
Both versions are designed with excellent support, but they offer different feels:
- DreamCase Memory is a firm memory foam bed that promotes good sleep posture and spinal alignment. Its suspension system cushions movement and provides outstanding support for side sleepers.
- DreamCase Air features adjustable firmness. You can release some air for a softer feel or pump it up to maximum firmness depending on your preference.
All DreamCase beds come with a luxurious quilted sateen cotton topper - the most natural and pleasant material to sleep on - giving every version a soft, breathable sleeping surface on top of the supportive base.
-
The breathable quilted cotton topper and open-cell memory foam help with heat dissipation better than traditional air mattresses or camping pads. For very hot nights we recommend keeping a window or using a small fan. Tesla drivers and some EV's have the advantage of Camp Mode. In cold weather the foam retains body heat well - users sleep comfortably down to freezing temperatures with an extra blanket or sleeping bag for extreme winter camping.
-
None. Once set up on the suspension platform, adding the topper quilt, the bed is very stable and soundless. You won’t experience the squeaking or rolling motion common with cheap air mattresses. Partners can move during the night without disturbing each other much.
-
Yes - this is one of the most popular features. The DreamCase Memory version is particularly versatile because the foam mattress is foldable. You can easily retract the rear seats upwards (especially in the Tesla Model Y Juniper) and fold the mattress into a comfortable lounge or divan-style couch. It also folds into a Couch in the trunk. This creates a fantastic daytime seating area for relaxing, working, or enjoying the view with the tailgate open. The pure foam design gives the Memory version this extra flexibility that the Air model doesn’t have in the same way.
-
You can keep windows slightly open for fresh air. For privacy, most people combine DreamCase with our WindowBlinds or other car curtains (available separately or from third parties).
Tesla drivers and many EV's have the advantage of Camp Mode, keeping climate control and air circulation all night.
-
Absolutely. With up to 132 cm width (Air version) and consistent flat support, two adults have plenty of personal space. Many couples use it regularly for weekend getaways and road trips. There is even enough space for 2 adults and one small child using the Air's width from door to door.
-
- Use the included cotton topper and pillows and full cotton bedding.
- Add blackout window covers for better sleep
- Park on relatively level ground
- Use a small fan for air circulation
- Keep an extra blanket for cold weather areas
Setup, Storage & Portability
-
From suitcase to ready-to-sleep bed in 2–3 minutes. The process is simple and intuitive: Open the case, set aside bedding, turn around the suspension platform case, unroll the mattress, add the topper and pillows. No complicated straps or pumps needed (except inflating the Air version, which takes under a minute).
-
Very easy. Most customers can do it on their first try without instructions. The system is designed for quick, spontaneous use - one person can set it up alone. We also provide clear visual guides and video instructions on the product pages.
-
Packing takes about the same time as setup (2–3 minutes). The Air version compresses with the built-in pump, while the Memory version folds neatly. Everything fits perfectly back into the sturdy suitcase with room for your bedding.
-
The suitcase for Air, is ultra compact considering it contains an entire bed, with full bedding (roughly 95 × 48 × 25 cm) and designed to live in the trunk full-time. It leaves most of your cargo space usable and can be placed upright or flat depending on your vehicle.
-
Yes, many customers do leave it partially or fully set up while driving - especially on longer road trips when you know you’ll be stopping to sleep again soon. The flat platform and foldable Memory version can also be kept in standby mode in the trunk, ready to fold out in 30 seconds. However, we recommend the following for safety:
- Always secure the mattress and platform properly so nothing slides around in case of sudden braking or sharp turns.
- Never have anyone lying on the bed while the car is moving (seatbelt laws apply in most countries).
- On highways or in heavy traffic, it’s generally safer to pack it away.
For everyday spontaneous use, the 2–3 minute setup time makes it very easy to pack and unpack as needed.
-
The quilted cotton topper and blanket are machine washable on low temperature. The Memory microfibre mattress covers can be machine washed or spot-cleaned with mild soap. The vegan leather case wipes clean easily. We recommend airing everything out after use to keep it fresh. Do not tumble dry - always air dry.

DreamCase is built for real-world use and handles normal car temperatures very well. You can safely leave it stored in its suitcase in the trunk for long periods. For best longevity we recommend keeping it in the suitcase when not in use and airing it out occasionally (especially after humid trips) to keep everything fresh.
-
With proper care, DreamCase is built to last many years (most customers get 8-10+ years of regular use). The high-density memory foam and sturdy suspension platform are made for durability.
-
Yes. We offer replacement toppers, pillows, microfibre covers, and other accessories. Contact us if you need a specific part.

The pump is covered under the 3-year warranty. Contact us with your order number and we will arrange a repair or replacement.
Safety & Legal
-
Yes - thousands of people safely sleep in their cars every night with DreamCase. The system is designed to be comfortable and practical for real overnight use. Just follow basic common-sense safety habits (like good ventilation and parking smartly) and you’ll be fine. Tesla cars & many EV's have Camp mode functions keeping climate and airflow all night, using the HVAC of the car.
-
We recommend cracking a window slightly or using a small USB/12V fan for air circulation. Many customers also use a portable carbon monoxide (CO) detector as an extra layer of peace of mind — especially if you ever run the heater or air conditioning while parked.
-
Yes, it works great for family adventures and with pets. The materials are safe and non-toxic. As always, never leave children or pets unattended in a parked car due to temperature changes.
-
No. DreamCase requires no permanent modifications to your vehicle. It simply sits on top of your folded rear seats or trunk floor, so it doesn’t impact your car’s warranty.
-
It depends on where you are. In most countries, sleeping in your car is allowed in rest areas, campsites, and private land (with permission). Some cities or parking lots have restrictions. We recommend using apps like iOverlander or Park4Night to find good, legal spots.
-
The memory foam meets standard safety regulations, and the vegan leather case is treated with fire-retardant properties. However, it is not completely fireproof - normal caution with open flames still applies.
Technical Questions & Troubleshooting
-
The Air version has a built-in electric pump that inflates the mattress in under a minute. It runs on a standard 12V car socket. Deflating is just as fast - simply run the pump in reverse and it compresses the mattress back into the suitcase. You can adjust the firmness or softness of the mattress by letting air out through the vent in a few seconds.
-
First, check that the power connection is solid. If the pump still doesn’t work, it is covered under the 3-year warranty. Contact us with your order number and a short video of the issue - we’ll arrange a repair or replacement quickly.
-
No. The pump only runs for a very short time during setup/pack-down. Once the bed is set up, there is no power consumption.
-
All vehicles become very level thanks to the suspension platform. If needed, you can:
- Check if the car itself is on level ground
- Slightly adjust the position of the platform inside the trunk
-
- Air version: Yes - release or add air with the pump to adjust firmness.
- Memory version: The firmness is fixed (medium-firm), but the quilted cotton topper makes it noticeably softer and more comfortable on top.
-
It closes easily when packed correctly. Quick tips:
- Fully compress the mattress (Air version) or fold it neatly (Memory version).
- Place the suspension parts at the bottom of the case (especially important for Memory).
- For the Air version, arrange the bedding and pillows properly on top.
Once everything is in the right order, the suitcase should close without much effort.
Comparisons & Alternatives
-
- DreamCase Air: Hybrid system with adjustable firmness via electric pump and the most compact packing size. Is smaller in size, but has space for the entire bed: including pillows, blankets & bedding, for two.
- DreamCase Memory: Pure memory foam version that is foldable and easier to turn into a lounge/couch during the day. Slightly simpler with no pump. Larger Case due to pure foam design.
Both deliver the same flat, stable sleeping platform and high comfort.
-
DreamCase is in a completely different league. Regular air mattresses often deflate, create pressure points, and feel unstable. Cheap pads are too thin. DreamCase gives you real memory foam comfort on a flat suspension platform with everything packed into one premium suitcase.
-
Roof tents require mounting on your roof, add weight, drag & fuel consumption, and take longer to set up. DreamCase needs zero installation, works with the car you already have, and can be used spontaneously in 2–3 minutes without climbing ladders.
-
Yes - for anyone who wants to sleep comfortably in their car more than a times in total. The difference in sleep quality, ease of use, and durability is significant. Many customers say it’s one of the best upgrades they’ve made to their vehicle.
-
Most other brands sell just a mattress- basically a big inflatable pad. DreamCase is a complete bed system. It includes the flat suspension & levelling platform, high-density memory foam, premium quilted cotton topper, cotton blankets, memory pillows, and everything packs into a sturdy, protective vegan leather suitcase. This gives you real bed-like comfort, proper width, stability, and thoughtful details that cheap inflatables simply don’t have.
-
You can, but it usually doesn’t create a flat surface, takes up permanent space, and is much harder to store and transport. DreamCase solves all these problems in one well-designed system.
